Looking back, I probably decided to become a business owner on May 11, 1993 without even knowing it. My father dropped me off at the train station in Buffalo, NY and I boarded the train for Boston, MA. I had a few hundred dollars in my pocket, a couple suitcases, and the key to an empty apartment in Quincy, MA where I was going to live until the end of the month. I arrived in Boston and after some missteps on the “T” (metro) I finally found the apartment in Quincy just before nightfall. There was no furniture, no television, and I slept on the floor. I did not have a job, I did not know anyone in the city, and there were no cell phones or Google maps to figure out where I was.
The next morning, I headed downtown with a stack of resumes and started looking for a job at any bank, mutual fund, or investment company that was taking applications. I eventually found a job, moved into an apartment with some roommates, and started on a new journey in a new city. That experience and self-confidence is what helped me to decide to launch Bison Wealth Management , LLC. 10 years later in 2003.
I graduated All-College Honors from Canisius College with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and French. I also hold an Executive Certificate in Financial Planning from John Carroll University. My financial advisor career started in 1995 with Morgan Stanley (formerly Dean Witter) in the Washington, DC area before launching Bison Wealth Management , LLC in 2003.
After working for Morgan Stanley (formerly Dean Witter) for over 7 years in the Washington, DC area, I decided that this was not the way I wanted to do business as a financial advisor. I resigned in January 2003 and started my career as an independent financial advisor by founding Bison Wealth Management, LLC. Building a business, building relationships, and building wealth for clients has been my focus since the beginning, and I will continue to strive to achieve this for my clients each and every day.
